Description

Poker mania is sweeping the globe. Thanks to TV and the Internet, suddenly poker is the new Hollywood. Top players are earning superstar salaries, while movie stars like Ben Affleck and Jennifer Tilley are more about the green felt than the silver screen. The main event at the 2005 World Series of Poker, with a staggering $10,000 entry fee, had nearly 6,000 participants from around the world and a prize pool of more than $50 million. The poker market is now enormous and everyone wants to play. There's only one problem: No-limit hold 'em is a difficult and complex game.

That's where KILL PHIL comes in. Despite its complexities, the structure of no-limit tournaments opens the door for even absolute novices to compete against the world's best players. In fact, the KILL PHIL strategy is most effective when employed against the experts. By illustrating how novice players can make simple moves that nullify the advantage of the pros, KILL PHIL targets the massive audience of beginners taking up this game.

KILL PHIL is a tournament-strategy book designed to beat the pros—several named "Phil"—at their own game. Written by two seasoned professionals who've collectively won hundreds of thousands at the tournament tables, it's endorsed—with some trepidation—by the biggest baddest "Phil" of them all, nine-time World Series of Poker champion "Poker Brat" Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

About the Authors
Blair Rodman made a name for himself in the 2004 World Series of Poker, where he made it into the prize money six times and played at three final tables. He topped it off with a terrific five-day run in the World Championship, eventually finishing 54th out of 2,576 players (one spot behind the legendary Doyle Brunson). Blair continued the pace in 2005, making two final tables on the WSOP circuit and finishing second in a World Poker Tour finale for a $327,000 payday. He is currently ranked 10th in the world in the World Poker standings.

Lee Nelson has been named the Australasian Grand Champion player for 2000-2005 by Poker Network. In 2005, Lee won the Party Poker World Open with a $400,000 first prize, the $120,000 High-stakes Speed Poker event and the 7-card stud championship at the Aussie Million, as well as the pot-limit Omaha event at the Irish Open. Lee also took down the no-limit hold 'em tournament at the St. Maarten Open in late 2004.
